HI! I’m your Philadelphia Photographer, Diana Smyth. First and foremost, I am a mother to two amazing little boys, and a wife to an incredible husband. I’m also a self-proclaimed happiness junkie, and someone who generally considers herself confident and well balanced. While I love that description of myself, the reality is that I live a chaotic life as I juggle the stresses that come with raising children and running a business and just from existing in our modern world. But no matter how messy my hair is or how late we are for soccer practice, I love it all!
Like so many women, my love of photography blossomed following the birth of my first child. I had spent several rewarding years teaching in the Philadelphia School District, committing to a career that I genuinely loved. I always had an interest in photography – specifically telling stories and preserving memories – but I never took it seriously until my first son was born.
As a foster child, I do not have photos of myself growing up. I took pictures with my friends as a kid, almost as a way of preserving my past and capturing my legacy. In a way, I had to create my own past. It was up to me to leave my own footprints in the cement. I had to make sure that people knew that I was here, that I existed. But as I struggled to preserve my own journey, I decided that my children would not face this problem. I decided that memorializing every moment would be the most cherished and valuable thing I that I could do for my kids.
Since starting my journey, I have been fortunate to learn from some of the top child and newborn photographers. I am blessed to have had my photographs published in magazines such as Child Couture and Baby Model Magazine. And I am honored that my work has been recognized by Mainline Family Favorite.

My Favorite Things
While I am deeply passionate about capturing your family’s legacy, my favorite role will always be “Mom.” On my days off, you can usually find me soaking up quality family time and embracing new adventures with my kids. Whether we are exploring a local trail or planning our next big traveling escapade, being together is my happy place.
I’m a firm believer that life is better with a little bit of magic and a lot of caffeine. I’m a total Disney enthusiast (there’s just nothing like that feeling of walking down Main Street!), a dedicated Marvel fan, and you will almost always find a warm cup of coffee in my hand.
I bring that same love for adventure, storytelling, and family connection into every session I photograph. I can’t wait to hear about the things your family loves!

My Philadelphia photography studio is located within the beautiful Billy Penn Studios building. I am honored to serve families throughout the Philadelphia area, including Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties. Because of our studio’s unique signature style, we frequently welcome families traveling from Delaware, Maryland, and New York for their portrait sessions.

We believe that styling is the heartbeat of a beautiful portrait. To ensure a stress-free experience, we provide an extensive Couture Client Closet featuring:
Newborn to Toddler Outfits: Hand-selected pieces from top international vendors, specifically designed to photograph beautifully.
Designer Maternity Gowns: Why spend hundreds on a dress you’ll wear once? Our studio is stocked with the latest fashion from the world’s top maternity designers. Whether you desire a form-fitting mermaid silhouette, an editorial bodysuit, or voluminous tulle robes and silks for that perfect “fabric toss” shot, we have the colors and styles to bring your vision to life.
Couture for Little Girls: We also carry an exclusive selection of couture gowns for little girls, perfect for family portraits or a dedicated ‘Princess Session’ just for her. A Stress-Free Sanctuary for Moms
As a mother, I know exactly how stressful leaving the house with a baby can be. I have stocked my space with ‘my moms’ in mind so you never have to worry if you’ve forgotten the essentials. Our studio is fully equipped with diapers, wipes, bottle warmers, and nursing pillows, as well as sanitary items for new mamas and plenty of snacks for kids of all ages. Just bring yourselves—I’ll take care of the rest.
Boutique Home Studio in Downingtown, PA
In addition to our city location, I also maintain a boutique home studio in Downingtown. This space is dedicated to intimate newborn sessions, cake smashes, and ‘Sitter’ milestones, as well as our seasonal Magic of Santa sessions. It is a joy to serve the Chester County and Main Line communities from this cozy, specialized space.

At Diana Smyth Photography, the safety of your newborn is our highest priority. Because we work with the most delicate of subjects, we maintain a hospital-grade standard of cleanliness in both our Philadelphia and Downingtown studios.
Our Staff Standards
The health of our team directly impacts the health of your family.
Wellness Policy: No staff member or artisan ever works while ill. We strictly monitor our health to ensure we are 100% well before entering the studio.
Hand Hygiene: We practice constant hand washing and sanitization. During your session, you will observe us frequently sanitizing our hands, props, and any tools used for posing.
The Studio Sanctuary
We maintain a pristine environment so you can relax during your session.
Daily Sanitization: Our studio is deep-cleaned daily and thoroughly sanitized between every client.
Fabric Care: Every wrap, gown, and textile that touches your baby’s skin is laundered and sanitized using baby-safe, hypoallergenic detergents immediately following the session.
Surface Safety: We utilize alcohol-based sanitization on all hard props and surfaces to ensure a sterile shooting environment.
Our Client Wellness Policy
To protect all of the tiny lives that enter our space, we maintain a Strict Wellness Policy for all visitors:
No Illness is Too Small: If any member of your family is feeling unwell—including siblings with minor coughs or sniffles—we require that you reschedule.
Protecting the Vulnerable: By keeping our studio illness-free, we ensure that every newborn, including those with developing immune systems, stays healthy and safe.
