5 Tips for Your Philadelphia Santa Photo Session

Think cozy and festive! Consider coordinating outfits for your family, but don’t feel like you need to be perfectly matching. Colors like deep reds, greens, creams, and even soft blues work wonderfully in holiday photos. Comfort is key, especially for the little ones. Avoid anything too restrictive or itchy that might make them uncomfortable. Check out Janie and Jack stores, they carry the cutest holiday outfits for babies and kids.  Lay out your outfits a few days before your session so you aren’t scrambling at the last minute.

Prepare your children for their special meeting with Santa. Talk about how kind and jolly he is, and perhaps even discuss a few things they might want to tell him. For younger children who might be a little shy, reassure them that it’s okay to just wave or whisper. Diana is wonderful at creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, but a little preparation can go a long way in easing any potential anxieties. Want to show them pictures of what it will look like, jump over to The Magic of Santa Experience and share them with your kids.

Check with Diana Smyth Photography beforehand if bringing a small, meaningful prop from home might work.  Think of items like:  a small toy, a holiday book, or even a letter to Santa can add a personal touch to your photos. However, it’s important to ensure the props don’t become a distraction or take away from the focus on your child and Santa.

4. Arrive a Little Early for your Santa Photos:

Give yourself some buffer time before your scheduled session. This will allow you to find parking, get settled, and let your children adjust to the environment without feeling rushed. A relaxed start to the session often leads to happier and more cooperative little ones in front of the camera.

5. Trust Your  Photographer:

Diana Smyth Photography is a skilled professional with experience in capturing beautiful moments with children and Santa. Trust her guidance and allow her to work her magic. She will have ideas for poses and interactions that will result in truly memorable photographs. Relax, enjoy the experience, and let Diana capture the enchantment of the season for you!
